Canberra United are delighted that Young Matildas international Tegan Bertolissio has penned a new deal with the club to be part of the squad ahead of the Ninja A-League Women’s 2024/25 season, United’s seventeenth season in the elite competition.
Bertolissio joined United at the beginning of last season, making her senior debut in the Round 1 4-4 draw with Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium in South Australia, her United debut coinciding with her Ninja A-League bow.
The full-back went on to be a commanding presence in the United backline, making fifteen appearances across the campaign and providing a solid attacking option with her penetrating overlapping runs assisting the Canberra forward-line.
“We are pleased that Tegan has signed a new deal to be part of Canberra United for the new season,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec said. “Her performances last season showed that she has plenty of potential and we are looking forward to seeing her achieve that potential in our colours.
“Tegan only missed a handful of matches last year, being a dependable presence in the squad and becoming a popular figure amongst our supporters. We are sure that she will continue her career trajectory in 2024/25.”
Bertolissio, a junior with South West Wanderers FC, added to her international pedigree in the 2023/24 season with further appearances for the Young Matildas building on an exceptional 2023 season with Macarthur Rams in the New South Wales National Premier League.
“I am very happy to have signed a new deal to continue playing for Canberra United in the 2024/25 season,” Bertolissio said. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time at United last season and am looking forward to continuing to improve my game at the club.
“Playing in front of the United fans was a superb experience, and I can’t wait to get back out in front of them again.”
