Canberra United is pleased to announce the re-signing of experienced duo, Bethany Gordon and Sally James, for the Ninja A-League 2026/27 season.
This campaign will be Gordon and James’ third consecutive season in the capital, after both players returned to the Club at the start of 2024/25.
Gordon had her best season in the Ninja A-League last season, making 20 appearances, scoring four goals and recording four assists that caught the eye of fans across the league, being awarded the Shark Fan Player of the Year. The 26-year-old was a crucial part of the United side that saw them finish third last season.
James has become a stalwart of the Ninja A-League at the age of 23, with the goalkeeper representing her country at Young Matildas level and becoming one of the most consistent performers in the league, with her shot-stopping abilities and her commanding presence on the pitch.
Canberra United Head Coach, Antoni Jagarinec said he was really pleased to see the duo re-commit for another season.
“Bethany and Sally showed last season how important they are to our side and we’re glad to have them back,” Jagarinec said.
“Bethany has gone from strength-to-strength during her time at Canberra United and we think she can deliver even more next season with her playmaking ability and avenue to goal.”
“Sally constantly shows experience beyond her years, establishing herself as one of the best goalkeepers in the league and we’re thrilled to have her leading the team from the back.”
Gordon and James are Canberra United’s first signings for the Ninja A-League 2026/27 season with the Club set to announce its playing roster over the coming weeks.
Canberra United will kick off its Ninja A-League 2026/27 season in Matchweek 2 on the road against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday 24 October, before the first home match of the season on Sunday 1 November against Western Sydney Wanderers at McKellar Park.
