Canberra United CEO, Heather Reid, invites Canberra United supporters to Join her at the Tradies Club in Dickson to watch Canberra United’s game versus the Queensland Roar live on Saturday.
Greetings to all and congratulations on a great start to the Westfield W-League last weekend in Newcastle. Unfortunately it wasn-t quite the result that we wanted but I thought the game was a terrific contest and the ‘green team- played great football – especially considering it was our first game together.
This weekend-s round is a televised game at 4.00pm on ABC1 from Brisbane. As we take on Queensland Roar, I-d like to encourage friends, family and fans to join me, Chris Gottaas and Sarah Body at the Dickson Tradies Club, Badham Street in Dickson to watch the game on the big screens in the sports bar from 3.45pm. I realise that everyone should be able to see the game in the comfort of their own homes because it-s on free-to-air telly, but I-d also like to encourage fans to support our Canberra United sponsor – the CFMEU, which owns the Tradies clubs in Canberra. We-ll put some money on the bar for refreshments and provide half-time snacks for those who are able to join us. It would be great if we could be seen in green so encourage your friends to wear green on the day – this will all help to generate interest for your first home game where we hope to turn McKellar Stadium into a ‘sea of green- on Sunday 9th.
We-re planning lots of promotions over the next few weeks, including a banner competition for round 3 (which will be sponsored by The Canberra Times) and also a competition to win a coaching session with the CU team. We-ll also provide post match meals and drinks at The Tradies after every home game for the team which means you can bring your family and friends along for a short presentation, meet-and-greet, autographs and drinks in the sports bar or beer garden.
Stay tuned for more news about the arrangements for the 9th but in the meantime tell your friends, family and other Canberra United fans to join us this Saturday at the Tradies in Dickson to show our collective support for you and the CU green team.
Good luck to the team this weekend – we-ll be barracking for you at The Tradies.
