Canberra United’s Caitlin Munoz is targeting a Westfield W-League return in Round Five at home to Adelaide United.
Canberra United-s Caitlin Munoz is targeting a Westfield W-League Round Five come back after scans revealed a grade 2 medial ligament strain which will keep the midfielder on the sideline for 3-4 weeks.
Initially there were fears that the injury would side line Munoz for an extended period of time ultimately ending her contribution to the inaugural Westfield W-League campaign but the good news was certainly a welcome relief.
However, Munoz received the good news yesterday that the scan had not found any serious damage to her knee after being stretchered off with ten minutes remaining in Canberra United-s Round One loss to the Newcastle Jets on Sunday afternoon.
“Immediately I knew what had happened to my knee having suffered a similar injury before” said Munoz from the physio table.
“Having said that, it could have been a whole lot worse, so I-m fairly relieved that I-ll only miss a couple of games.”
The experienced player will miss this weekend-s clash with competition favourites Queensland Roar and Canberra United-s first home game against the Central Coast Mariners but has set the fixture against Adelaide United on Saturday, 22nd November as her return to action.
“Ultimately I-d love to play this weekend but realistically I probably won-t be ready until our second home game against Adelaide United in a couple weeks time,” Munoz said.
In the bruising fixture on Sunday against Newcastle, Sasha McDonnell also received medical attention after rolling her ankle in the shadows of full time but further observation has cleared McDonnell of any damage and may be available for selection this weekend.
