Canberra United has finalised its squad for the 2026/27 Ninja A-League Women season with the signings of forward Lily McMahon, goalkeeper Charlotte Hrehoresin and Austrian defender Naïla Schoefberger.
Lily McMahon – Forward
McMahon grew up on the Central Coast and came through the Central Coast Mariners Academy. She returned to the Mariners on a scholarship deal for the 2024/25 season and made eight A-League Women appearances.
She earned that contract with a standout season at NPLW NSW side Northern Tigers FC. As club captain she scored 18 goals in all competitions and finished third in the NPLW NSW Golden Boot race. She was also named in the NPLW NSW First Grade Women’s Team of the Year.
“I’m super excited to be a part of the Canberra United squad – It is such an incredible and talented group of girls! The squad and staff have made me feel so welcome since signing and I’m really excited to see what we can achieve this season.” says Lily.
Charlotte Hrehoresin – Goalkeeper
At 20, Hrehoresin already has several years of A-League Women experience behind her. She came through Football Victoria’s Emerging program and was 16 when Melbourne City signed her as an injury-replacement goalkeeper in January 2023. She joined Western United in 2024.
Naïla Schoefberger – Defender
Schoefberger was born in Vienna and raised in Tampa, Florida. She has represented Austria at U17 and U19 level. At the 2022 UEFA Women’s U19 European Championship qualifiers in Israel she scored the winning goal against Israel, her first international goal.
She played US college football at Rutgers University and then Mississippi State University in the SEC, one of the strongest conferences in American college soccer. In her senior season in 2025 she had two goals and two assists from 12 matches.
She has also stood out in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). She was named in the Sunshine Conference Best XI with Florida Premier FC in 2025, and in the 2026 All-Central team with Kansas City Current II.
Naïla says of her signing: “I’m incredibly grateful to have the privilege of joining Canberra United, such an amazing club with a great group of people, and I can’t wait to get started and see what the season has in store!“
All three players will be available for selection from Match Week 2.
