Canberra United will host the Newcastle Jets at Deakin Stadium on Saturday in their final outing of the 2018/19 Foxtel Y-League season.

United fell to Sydney at the AIS last weekend and will look to finish on a high note in front of a home crowd.

Dean Ugrinic said his side are ready for the Jets and looking forward to playing in front of a Canberra crowd.

“We’re looking forward to taking on the Jets at Deakin,” he said.

“Newcastle play an up tempo, attacking style of Football which allows for an open game.”

“Our last encounter with the Jets was a total arm wrestle, and was only decided in the final 10 minutes of the game.”

United are likely to be without Lachlan Griffiths after he suffered a concussion in the loss to Sydney last week, adding to player woes for Urginic.

Ugrinic has been buoyed by the performances of some players through United’s second campaign in the development league.

“The boys have performed above my expectations across the course of the season, against some of the best footballing talent in the competition.

“We’ve remained competitive throughout our games despite significant losses within our playing ranks due to injuries and departures, and some horrible luck where the bounce of the ball unfortunately hasn’t gone our way.

“But this season has presented opportunities for our best young talent in the likes of Lucas Mauragis, Niki Jadric and Zac Barbatano to nurture and develop in to top line footballers, while also hardening the squad for the realities of top flight competition.”

United’s clash with the Jets kicks off at 6:30pm and entry is free.
