HEYMAN BACK FOR MORE WITH UNITED!

Canberra United is delighted to confirm that super-striker and Matildas star Michelle Heyman will continue in green for the new A-League season after signing a new contract with the club for the 2024/25 campaign.

The 67-times capped Australian international has penned a new agreement and will link up with the club ahead of the new season, to continue a glittering career in green, the highlights manifold, but including 155 appearances for the club, and a record 98 goals.

Heyman was part of the successful Canberra team that won a brace of W-League Premierships in  2011/12 and 2013/14 and subsequently added Grand Final glory with a double in 2011/12 and 2014.

On an individual level the super-striker bagged the Julie Dolan Medal, awarded to the best player in the A-League competition on two occasions, being successful in 2009 and 2021, as well as claiming the Golden Boot as League leading goalscorer in 2009 and 2011/12.

“We are thrilled that Michelle has elected to continue her career in green with us here at Canberra United,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec commented.

“Michelle is unarguably one of the most famous footballers around at the moment, a leading light for the Matildas and a goalscorer of some repute. As our leading scorer last season, she was an inspirational figure to our squad, both on and off the pitch, and I have no doubt she will continue to be so.

“Her time with Canberra United has seen Michelle become our leading appearance maker, leading goalscorer, and earn legendary status. We are excited to see her continue her fantastic journey with us.”

Far from being just an ace predator, as the years have gone on Heyman has developed into a complete forward. The number twenty-three often sacrificing her own opportunities to drop deep, pulling defenders out of shape, and releasing teammates into presentable areas of the field.

However, as much as her on field achievements make her a genuine Canberra legend, it is her off-field demeanour that has won her many admirers, always ready with a word or two for the supporters, willing to sign any autograph, and pose for pictures with a fanbase that simply adores her.

“I am excited to be continuing my football journey with Canberra United, a club that is incredibly close to my heart,” Heyman commented of her continued presence at United.

“The club is special to me, and I have enjoyed every minute of my career with Canberra. I am feeling incredibly good, physically and mentally, and am ready to hit the ground running in the new season.

“Playing in Canberra, and in front of our amazing supporters, has been up there with some of the best highlights of my career. I have made many memories playing for Canberra United and am looking forward to creating many more with Ant, the coaching and backroom staff, my teammates, and the fans.”

Heyman has committed to Canberra United for the 2024/25 season, and you can too! Packages for season memberships are available now on our club website at www.canberraunited.com.au.
