Canberra United face off against the Central Coast Mariners in Round 15 of the Ninja A-League Women’s, as the club celebrates their history in their ‘Forever Green – Heritage Round’.
United are in a great run of form, unbeaten in the last three matches and only the one loss in the last seven.
In a welcome boost for United, forward Aideen Keane made her return to play last weekend after being out with injury, giving head coach Antoni Jagarinec more firepower at his disposal up front.
The Mariners are on a similar run, unbeaten in their last four and also with the one loss in their last seven.
Whilst the Mariners currently sit above United on the ladder, the gap is only two points, and a win would see United jump the Mariners into fifth spot pending other results.
Last time United met the mariners this season, was back in Round Five with the Mariners coming out on top by two goals to one.
Defence has been key for United in recent weeks, with two clean sheets in the last three matches. Despite Perth having 16 shots to United’s three, the defensive line was rarely troubled, with goalkeeper Sally James in top form to deny any shots on goal.
Former United player Bianca Galic has been in fine form for the Mariners and will be one to keep an eye on, as will off season signing Taylor Ray.
United midfielder Emma Robers has been a consistent performer for the team in green since joining in pre-season, and has been nominated for the A-League Women’s Player of the Month for January, while Sofia Christopherson’s electric form has seen her nominated for PFA Player of the Month.
