DYNAMIC BRIEDIS SIGNS UNITED DEAL

Dynamic Young Matildas midfielder Ava Briedis has put pen to paper to sign for Canberra United ahead of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League season.

The youth international joins United as Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec begins to finalise his playing roster for the new season, adding her extensive skillset to the club’s existing midfield stocks.

“I am thrilled to be able to welcome a player of the quality of Ava to Canberra United ahead of the Ninja A-League season,” Jagarinec said.

“We are aware of the quality that Ava has, having assessed her abilities during her time with Melbourne Victory. She is an energetic player with a good eye for a pass and enjoys a challenge.

“As with each of the players we have identified, Ava fits the profile of a young and hungry player, an athlete who is comfortable on the ball, and a player who has experience of the competition. I am sure our fans will love watching her play.”

Briedis first joined Victory in 2022 from Football Victoria and, over her time with Victory, contributed at key moments including a late winner against Adelaide United to kick off the 2024/25 season.

“I am pretty excited to sign for Canberra United for the new Ninja A-league season,” Briedis said of the announcement of her signing.

“I have always enjoyed playing against Canberra and have experienced the city as a player with both Victory and at Young Matildas. Looking forward to also playing in front of the Canberra faithful at McKellar Park”

“Looking forward to bringing my attacking contribution to the club and to be part of an exciting chapter for the club and myself.”
