Michelle Heyman re-signs with Canberra United

Canberra United is delighted to announce the re-signing of Matildas’ icon and Club legend, Michelle Heyman, for the Ninja A-League 2026/27 season.

The legendary striker returns to the Club for an incredible fifteenth season in green, continuing one of the most decorated and enduring careers in Ninja A-League history.

Heyman holds the record for the most appearances and is the all-time leading goalscorer in the Ninja A-League, and across her illustrious career, has played a pivotal role in the Club’s success, helping secure two Championships and a Premiership, while also claiming two Julie Dolan Medals and three Golden Boots.

Michelle’s international career speaks for itself, with 87 caps for the national team, representing the Matildas at FIFA World Cups and Olympic Games and being part of a generation of Matildas that have changed the landscape of women’s sport in Australia.

The evergreen forward has been instrumental in shaping Canberra United’s history in the league, and has been a leading contributor to United’s return to Finals football in recent seasons, and continues to set the standard both on and off the pitch.

Canberra United Head Coach, Antoni Jagarinec said he was excited to be once again working with one of Australia’s most decorated footballers for another season.

“We’re incredibly proud to have Michelle back with us at Canberra United for another season,” Jagarinec said.

“Michelle is not only a top-class footballer but she is a person that everyone looks up to in our team and an incredible person on and off the field.”

“As a Club, we’re stoked to have Michelle back in an exciting new era for Canberra United, and we feel she will play an important role in continuing the journey we have built as a team over the past couple of seasons.”

Heyman was also thrilled to be back in green for another season.

“It’s an honour to be back at Canberra United for another season,” Heyman said.

“Canberra United is a Club that is very close to my heart and to be able to continue my career here is something that is very special for me.”

“Now, I’m looking forward to putting in the hard work with the team and the coaching staff, and focusing on being even better than last season and bringing silverware to the Club.”

Heyman joins Bethany Gordon and Sally James as Canberra United’s latest re-signings for the Ninja A-League 2026/27 season with the Club set to announce its playing roster over the coming weeks.

Canberra United will kick off its Ninja A-League 2026/27 season in Matchweek 2 on the road against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday 24 October, before the first home match of the season on Sunday 1 November against Western Sydney Wanderers at McKellar Park.
