Slatyer and Maciejewski to miss Round 6 (updated)

Canberra United’s Thea Slatyer will miss round six of the Westfield W-League after being handed a two match suspension with one of those matches suspended following her straight red card against Adelaide United on Saturday.

Canberra United-s Thea Slatyer will miss round six of the Westfield W-League after being handed a two match suspension with one of those matches suspended following her straight red card against Adelaide United on Saturday.

The defender was given her marching orders in the eighth minute for ‘serious foul play- in a match that saw six yellow cards dished out but will only face one mandatory week on the side line against Perth Glory on Sunday.

“After reviewing our options, Canberra United will not be appealing the suspension handed to Thea Slatyer,” Canberra United CEO Heather Reid said.

“The mandatory one week suspension cannot be appealed and with the second week of the suspension suspended there-s no need for the club to pursue any appeal process with the defender to return against Sydney FC in a fortnight.”

Midfielder, Cian Maciejewski will sit out round six as well after picking up her third yellow card of the Westfield W-League season which automatically sees Maciejewski pick up a one match ban.

UPDATE: Slatyer has received a further one match suspended sentence following an alleged breach of National Code of Conduct after the final whistle on Saturday against Adelaide. This suspended sentence will only be triggered if Slatyer breaches the National Code of Conduct again this season.

Both Slatyer and Maciejewski remain available for selection for round seven against Sydney FC on Saturday 6th December at McKellar Park with kick off at 6:00pm.
