Jennifer Bisset will miss Season 7 of the WWL due to ankle surgery.
One of Canberra United’s foundation midfielders, Jenni Bisset has been ruled out of the forthcoming Westfield W-League season with an ankle injury. Bisset has played 56 times for the club and scored two goals over the past six seasons.
Bisset has decided to have immediate surgery to repair a talar dome lesion injury that she sustained during the off-season and the rehabilitation will preclude her from participating this season.
“It’s disappointing news for Jenni and for Canberra United,” CEO Heather Reid commented. “Jenni has been with us since day one and has been an important member of the squad since our formation in 2008. She is a very resilient character so I am sure she will recover well from the surgery and be back in contention next season.”
Bisset made her Canberra United debut as a substitute against Melbourne Victory in November 2008 and has played for ANU WFC, Canberra FC and Weston Creek locally as well as having a spell in Finland with FK-35 Vantaa in 2013 and FC Slovacko Zeny in the Czech Republic this year.
“I talked to Wilson [Canberra United’s Doctor] about my ankle problems and he thought it was a good idea for me to get surgery as quickly as possible,” Bisset explained. “Unfortunately this means I won’t be able to run for three to four months. In other words, I won’t be able to be a part of Canberra United as a player. This is sad for me, but from talking with Lizz [Migchelsen], I think I’ve made the right decision to essentially get a new ankle!”
Canberra United wishes Bisset all the best for a speedy recovery and will involve her in match day operations where possible.
