Canberra United have re-signed former Championship player Kahlia Hogg for the remainder of Westfield W-League Season Nine.

Canberra United are delighted to today announce that Kahlia Hogg has re-signed with the Westfield W-League club for the remainder of season nine.

Hogg was a member of the Canberra United side that completed the league double in Westfield W-League season three, taking out the League Premiership and Championship honours.

Since then, Hogg has been studying and playing in the United States and said that she is delighted to be back in Green.

“I want to thank Rae, the coaching staff and the club for the opportunity to return to Canberra United,” she said.

“I’m very excited and grateful to be putting the Green jersey back on after 5 years in the States.”

Hogg made 24 appearances in green between 2009 and 2012, getting her name on the scoresheet once, and says the welcoming environment of Canberra is still obvious to see.

“I love being back at training with the girls and it is a fantastic team environment,” she said.

“Every session is competitive and energetic, and I want to thank my teammates for welcoming me from day one.”

“The team has had a strong start to the season and I hope to contribute as much as possible during our remaining games.”

With head coach Rae Dower having joined the club since Hogg’s last stint, she is yet to coach the recent Mechanical Engineering graduate, but said that the opportunity to do that now is an exciting prospect.

“It’s wonderful to have Kahlia re-join our Green family after a successful College stint in the US where she recently graduated,” Dower said.

“I watched Kahlia’s rise through the youth ranks, albeit from afar, and am excited to have the opportunity to coach her.”

Having spent so long overseas, Hogg’s game has developed in spades, and Dower was quick to praise her ability.

“You can see she has great football pedigree and is technically very sound,” she said.

“She’s come back older, wiser and a well rounded athlete.”

With Hogg’s international clearance now complete, the midfielder is eligible to be picked as early as this weekend, but has already said she has no expectations of diving into the starting team.

Canberra’s next match is against Adelaide United at McKellar Park this Saturday the 7th January, kicking off at 6pm.
