CANBERRA UNITED UPDATE

Capital Football have been busy behind the scenes since the announcement three weeks ago that Canberra United has financially secured its place to participate in Season 17 of the Liberty A-League, the national women’s competition.

With considerable thanks to the ACT Government for their increased financial support of the club, Capital Football have begun negotiations with key players and coaching staff ahead of the 2024/2025 season.

As with any contractual negotiations, these conversations take time, and the club is hoping to make some announcements in these areas within the next few weeks.

As well as the key tasks of appointing coaches and agreeing terms with players, Canberra United have also been in discussion to implement a new management structure to help safeguard the future of the club.

There are various proposals and options on the table around the structure of Canberra United. These proposals are currently under discussions between relevant stakeholders, including the ACT Government, to seek the best possible outcome for the club and continued participation at the highest level.

Capital Football not only want to ensure Canberra United is secured in the immediate future, but any proposals must assure a long-term ongoing commitment to the sport in this region.

Once more, an announcement regarding these proposals will be made when an agreement has been reached.

We thank our supporters for their patience at this time and would like to reassure our fanbase that movement is taking place to ensure that Canberra United can field a competitive team in the 2024/2025 Liberty A-League.
