Canberra United are pleased to confirm the re-signing of young forward Sofia Christopherson for the 2024/25 A-League Women’s season.
The pacey forward has signed on for her third season in green and will be looking to build on what was a breakout campaign, in which she scored her maiden professional goal.
“I’m delighted to be back at Canberra United for another season,” said Christopherson
“I supported the club as kid and have loved being a part of the squad for the last two seasons.
“I can’t wait to get back on to the field at McKellar Park. Scoring my first professional goal at home in front of our fans was a dream come true. I’m looking forward to more moments like that this season.”
Christopherson skippered Canberra United Academy in their 2022 National Premier League season and ended her Academy playing career with 50 appearances and 22 goals, highlighting her physicality, pace, and leadership abilities in a youthful Academy structure.
Christopherson has been playing for the Illawarra Stingrays in the New South Wales Premier League with a number of former Canberra United players, having made thirteen appearances to date and was an important recruit for the team in green ahead of the new season.
“Sofia is no stranger to the team, having been a key part of the squad for the past two seasons,” said Canberra United Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec.
“She is a player that has speed and a natural ability to find the goal or deliver that killer pass to her teammate. Her aggressiveness in the tackle, sheer determination, and will-to-win are highly desirable characteristics for me, and she will be a big part of my plans in 2024/25.”
Christopherson has committed to Canberra United for the 2024/25 season, and you can too! Packages for season memberships are available now on our club website at www.canberraunited.com.au.
