Canberra junior Karly Roestbakken will be back in Green for Season 11 as she enters her third Westfield W-League season with Canberra United.
The talented local product burst onto the Westfield W-League scene in Season nine as she scored the goal to hand Melbourne City their first ever defeat, and cemented herself as a key player in Heather Garriock’s lineup during last year.
Garriock said this week that she can’t wait to have the talented Roestbakken to work with once more in Canberra.
“Karly is a terrific talent and she has played all her football through the Junior ranks in Canberra, so it’s great to see how far she has come,” she said.
“Not just from her perspective it is great, but for young aspiring girls who are in our system now, they can see the pathway that leads to Canberra United and then on to the national team.”
Roestbakken has this year captained the Canberra United Academy side in the NPLW Capital Football, helping lead them to second spot on the ladder and a Preliminary Final berth this weekend and she is looking forward to returning in Green.
“I’m so excited to be coming back”, she said.
“I’m very happy that Heather has given me an opportunity to come back, I love pulling on the Green jersey in front of our fans at McKellar Park, and I get to play the game I love so I really can’t wait.”
“The last two seasons have really set me up for my future.”
“For this season and the ones ahead, I am so excited by the players Heather is bringing in and the team environment she is creating, and I will definitely be learning a lot.”
Roestbakken is the eighth player confirmed to be a part of Garriock’s squad this season, and will soon wrap up her Academy commitments ahead of a busy pre-season for United.
