KEANE PENS UNITED DEAL

Canberra United are proud to announce their latest addition to the 2024/25 A-League squad with the signing of attacker Aideen Keane from Sydney FC.

Keane is the newest recruit to the club as Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec continues to build his roster ahead of the forthcoming season, the former Sky Blues star having played 580 minutes for Sydney FC in 2023/24, scoring one goal.

The combative Keane began her A-League career with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2020/21 as a raw 18-year-old, playing three times off the bench, before making the trip across country the following season, joining Perth Glory and appearing in seven matches for the Western Australians, scoring two goals.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Aideen to Canberra United for the new season,” Jagarinec said of the signing.

“Aideen is a high-quality player who encompasses exactly what the modern-day footballer should be. She has a great work rate, is comfortable on the ball, and can time her tackles well.

“As a player who has played in the competition since making her debut in 2020/21, Aideen understands the demands of the league, and I am sure that she will be an excellent acquisition for the club.”

Keane will be a well-known face to United supporters having scored the Sky Blues goal in the 1-1 draw between the clubs at Leichhardt Oval in January 2024, one of seven matches she started for the Champions last term.

“I am delighted to be signing for Canberra United and continuing my football education with such a great team in the National Capital,” Keane said of her deal with the club.

“Canberra is a great City, and I have always enjoyed playing against the team as they always try and play good football. I had very productive talks with the coaching staff about where they see me fitting into the environment, and I am excited to be able to get to Canberra and begin the nest stage of my career.”

Keane has committed to Canberra United for the 2024/25 season, and you can too! Packages for season memberships are available now on our club website at www.canberraunited.com.au.
