Canberra United are proud to announce and release the brand new, refreshed and updated, club logo which will adorn the new apparel from the start of the 2022/2023 Liberty A-League season.
United, who will enter their fifteenth season in the pre-eminent women’s competition in Australia, have redesigned the iconic club badge to bring a more modern, vibrant feel to it, whilst keeping in line with the history and traditions of the twice League Champions.
A striking new look sees a dynamic new font alongside a change to the iconic Parliament House backdrop and the addition of two green stars to celebrate the team’s dual championship victories of 2012 and 2015.
“It was important for us as club to refresh our logo ahead of the new Liberty A-League season,” Capital Football and Canberra United CEO, Chris Gardiner, commented about the change.
“The rebrand brings a modern feel to an iconic logo, updating certain aspects of the badge whilst still retaining the characteristics that make the badge unmistakably that of Canberra United Football Club.
“We are very pleased with the outcome and are sure our supporters will embrace the change.”
United engaged with Inklab, a local creative agency based in Canberra, to bring the new logo to life and to redevelop the brand for the future.
“Canberra United was due for a brand refresh, one that would translate its proud heritage to the digital world,” Colin Haining, Director of Inklab commented.
“The new logo is sharp and dynamic, with the United name front and centre. The shield features a central football made up of circles and an abstract Parliament House that draws the eye in with upwards momentum.
“The logo balances line weights and spacing and applies a vibrant and versatile colour palette.”
Inklab created a custom typeface that builds on the identity and will be extended through merchandise and sub-brand elements throughout the season.
Canberra United is gearing up for a promising 2022-23 season with a new identity that reflects the modern face of the club and its supporters.
