Canberra United will be looking to reset the tone of their season this weekend, when they take on Adelaide United on Sunday night in round two of the Liberty A-League.
A 0-1 loss to Melbourne City at home, followed by a focused week of training and the hunger for points has Canberra fired up for their first away trip of the season.
Both sides are responding to opening round losses though, with Adelaide no doubt keen to prove their 5-1 defeat was just a one off.
“Training has been really good this week,” Head Coach Vicki Linton said.
“Last week, we’re disappointed with the result but pragmatic about where we’re at, and just looking for a response.
“Adelaide had a tough round one and we expect them to bounce back and have pride at home. We know how good they are, especially playing against them last year.
“We just want to improve every week and get the results.”
Canberra has stats on their side, recording 13 wins and four draws over their last 21 encounters but their last match up saw then go down 2-1 at Marden Sports Complex.
All eyes will be on Canberra’s experienced attackers, to see how they get past Adelaide’s defence, while a week into her return and Karly Roestbakken will be leading from the back, alongside Lauren Keir, Emma Ilijoski and Ally Haran.
Required to test and isolate on arrival into South Australia, Canberra will be keen to get outside, get moving, and get a win.
