Match Preview – Canberra United v Newcastle Jets

This Friday will see Canberra step out onto Viking Park for the final time this season, up against the Newcastle Jets in Round 13 of the Liberty A-League Women’s.

It’s the second of two home games this week, with Tuesday’s draw against Melbourne Victory one of their strongest performances of the season.

While it was disappointing to concede the three points in the final ten minutes, Canberra was the better team for most of the match. Regardless, they have been left no time to dwell, as they turn their attention to the Newcastle Jets.

Their last encounter ended in a thrilling six-goal draw, with a brace from Ash Sykes and a header from Allira Toby.

A win for Canberra on Friday could see them leapfrog the Jets and rise to sixth on the ladder.

Head Coach Vicki Linton hopes the side can round out their season at home, with a well deserved win for not only the team but the fans who turn up week in, week out, offering so much support.
