PREVIEW: CRUNCH TIME FOR UNITED WITH FINALS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

With a two week break between games looming due to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, Canberra United are searching for a return to the winner’s circle, as the side prepares to welcome Western Sydney Wanderers to McKellar Park for Round 18 of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Women’s season.

United will be looking to put last week’s disappointing result behind them, after suffering defeat on the road to Perth Glory. Fortunately, other results were in favour of United, as they remain in third place and still within three points of top spot and a chance of taking out the League Premiers title.

Wanderers currently sit in tenth on the ladder, but are still a chance of making finals as they currently sit six points behind the top six. United meanwhile are in third place, with a three-point gap between them and finals. On the flip side, it is the same sized gap between United and dropping out of the finals race.

After struggling for form in the early stages of the season, the Wanderers have started to pick up momentum with three wins and a draw in their last five. They will be sweating on the fitness of Talia Younis however, with the young winger subbed off before half-time with what seemed to be an injury to her quad.

After a disappointing draw when the two side previously met back in Round 11, United will be keen to get a better result this time around, as the side looks to pick up momentum ahead of finals.
