Canberra United have boosted their goalkeeping stocks with the signature of Northbridge Bulls goalkeeper Keely Segavcic.
Segavcic has been a regular in the top divisions of the New South Wales Women’s competition and joins United to work alongside current goalkeepers Chloe Lincoln and Keeley Richards.
“We are delighted to add Keely to our goalkeeping ranks at Canberra United for the upcoming Liberty A-League season,” Head Coach Njegosh Popovich said of the signing of the custodian.
“Keely is an exciting young goalkeeper who we are sure will develop into a top-class shot-stopper. She is keen to learn, is very coachable and will provide additional cover in our goalkeeping department.”
Segavcic comes into the United set-up having been part of the train-on squad at Western Sydney Wanderers, a position she achieved thanks to some outstanding displays for the Bulls, who have a close relationship with Macarthur FC.
“I am excited to be joining Canberra United for the 2022/2023 Liberty A-League season,” Segavcic commented.
“The opportunity to continue to develop my goalkeeping career in a first-class environment like United was one that really appealed to me. I would like to thank Njegosh for giving me the opportunity.
“I am looking forward to working with the other great goalkeepers we have at Canberra, learning from the coaching staff and improving my game.”
Canberra United’s 2022/2023 Liberty A-League season begins on Saturday 19 November with a home match against Perth Glory at McKellar Park.
