Canberra United’s Westfield W-League roster has been bolstered by the addition of striker Jasmyne Spencer and midfielder Celeste Boureille with the duo agreeing to don green for the 2016/17 season.

Whilst Boureille, who joins the club from Portland Thorns, is somewhat of an unknown, the capture of Spencer, on loan from Orlando Pride, will be more a familiar name to Canberra United supporters with the dynamic and speedy striker a real presence with Sydney FC the past two seasons.

“I’m very pleased to announce the final two international spots on our roster this year are Jasmyne Spencer and Celeste Boureille,” Head Coach Rae Dower commented. “Both players are fresh off impressive seasons for their respective teams in the NWSL.

“There’ll be some familiarity between Celeste and Hayley Raso, while Michelle Heyman has also played with Jasmyne before at Western New York Flash which is important for team chemistry.

Boureille will be making her Westfield W-League debut when the 22-year-old arrives in the national capital but Spencer, who has 12 goals in 27 outings for the Sky Blues, is no stranger to the Australian national league.

“Celeste is a very promising young midfielder who is strong, good in the air, equally at home with both feet and has very good game awareness,” Dower commented. “I’m looking forward to seeing her impact on our team and the league.

“Jasmyne of course has been entertaining the fans of the W-League for the last couple of seasons north of the border and is an outstanding addition to our team for this season. She has a winning mentality and is a proven goalscorer. We know first-hand of her attacking prowess and I look forward to seeing her run defenders ragged around the country in Season 9.”

Both players are eagerly awaiting the challenge of representing Canberra in the latest edition of the Westfield W-League.

“I’m excited to bring my talents to an already talented team. I can’t wait to take on Season 9 and hopefully help Canberra win another championship,” Spencer said whilst Boureille echoed her new team-mates thoughts.

“I am excited to be joining a highly respected club and organization in the W-League this season. I am motivated to give everything I have to bring Canberra United a championship.”

Canberra United starts their Westfield W-League season on Saturday 12th November when they take on Champions Melbourne City at GIO Stadium in Canberra. The match will also be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
