Canberra United wish former players Nickoletta Flannery and Emma Ilijoski all the best as they depart the club for new opportunities ahead of the 2024/25 Liberty A-League season.
Both players are well-known to supporters of United with Flannery making her debut for the club back in 2015/16, being Canberra United player number 56, whilst Ilijoski followed suit to become Canberra United player 112 when she first graced the field for the club in the 2020/21 campaign.
Flannery went on to play 87 times for Canberra, scoring fifteen goals in two stints at the club, with Ilijoski departing having pulled on the green jersey on 55 occasions.
“Both Nickoletta and Emma have been excellent servants to Canberra United Football Club and have always given their all to the cause,” Canberra United CEO, Samantha Farrow, commented.
“Whilst we are sorry to see them depart, we fully understand their desire for a new challenge and wish them the best of luck in the next stage of their career. Their achievements with the club will not be forgotten.”
Flannery rejoined Canberra in 2020 having spent time with the Newcastle Jets having debuted for the club in Season 8, ironically scoring her first goal against the Jets for whom she would later star.
Ilijoski meanwhile was thrust into the limelight when an injury to Kendall Fletcher paved the way for the Canberra junior to step up to the first team in scorching heat during a 1-1 draw with Perth Glory at Viking Park in 2021.
Canberra United thanks both Nickoletta and Emma for their time with the club.
