Canberra United players Aideen Keane, Maja Markovski, Ruby Nathan, and Tegan Bertolissio took time out from their busy training schedule to help inspire the next generation at a series of Community school visits this week.
Hosted by Head of Communications and commentator, Russ Gibbs, the players held assemblies at Curtin Primary School and St. Peter & Paul Primary School in Garran in front of a combined total of close to 600 rapt students.

The players were quizzed on their early football careers, the importance of teamwork, chasing their dreams, opportunities as a youngster, overcoming injuries and career setbacks, as well as nutrition and diet.
There was also the chance for the students to ask questions of the players, and to take part in the assembly themselves when the questions turned to the topics of pets, favourite TV shows, and how important breakfast is for anybody seeking to get the best out of their day.

It’s fair to say that ten Weetbix was a lot for breakfast, that some students had pet snakes, and that Married at First Sight was not a popular choice as favourite TV show, the students much preferring the answers of The Simpsons, and SpongeBob SquarePants!
Every student was given a goodie bag with items for signing by the United players and were given a match ticket to the Hume Derby encounter with Sydney FC on Saturday 22 March at McKellar Park.

United intend to continue their school visits where training and travelling schedule permits and invite interested schools to send an application for a visit to info@canberraunited.com.au
