Canberra United are delighted to announce the signing of young defender Tegan Bertolissio, a Junior and Young Matildas international, for the new Liberty A-League season.
Bertolissio joins the two-times national champions off the back of a highly successful stint in the New South Wales Premier League with Macarthur Rams, where the youngster, who can play in several defensive roles, has been a standout.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have signed for Canberra United and having been offered the opportunity to play in the Liberty A-League for such a well-known and successful club,” Bertolissio said of her signing.
“Canberra United is a name that is recognised as giving opportunities to young players such as myself, and I have heard plenty about the noisy and passionate fanbase that comes to watch the matches.
“I would like to thank Njegosh Popovich for giving me the chance to show what I can do at this level, and I am looking forward to getting started, to continuing to learn from the coaches and the senior players and playing my part in a successful season.”
Bertolissio started her football journey with the juniors at St. George FC, before spending three seasons at Blacktown Spartans where she played in the boy’s National Premier League set-up in U13 and U14 after coming through the ranks of the Skill Acquisition Program (SAP).
No stranger to the high levels required at the top end of the game, Bertolissio represented the Junior Matildas at two AFF tournaments, under the tutelage of former Canberra United Head Coach Rae Dower, as well as being part of the Young Matildas set-up led by Leah Blayney, another with links to the capital club.
Bertolissio was recently part of the Young Matildas group who played in the Pacific Four Nations Cup in Canberra which involved Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
