Canberra United stars Rachel Corsie, Rhoda Mulaudzi and Shamiran Khamis picked up accolades at the 2018/19 awards night on Thursday night, while youngster Laura Hughes’ consistent rise was also awarded.

Corsie took home the top award for the Westfield W-League side, voted as the 2018/19 Player of the Year after an outstanding first campaign in the league as Captain of United.

The Scottish international has been part of a much-improved backline this season under Heather Garriock and has anchored the squad with her leadership as well.

After one of the best season-long displays of goalkeeping in the league Khamis was awarded by her peers as the 2018/19 Players’ Player, earning their votes with some heroic saves and immense performances at key times throughout the campaign.

United’s fans picked out South African forward Rhoda Mulaudzi as their Supporters’ Player of the Year, following a stellar first season in the Westfield W-League which has seen her score in four of the five completed home games so far.

Hughes was the final award winner for the Westfield W-League team, taking home the University of Canberra Rising Star award for a campaign that saw her make her first ever start and pick up an increased role in the middle of the park.

Catch us in action in our final game of the season, as we take on Melbourne Victory at McKellar Park on Tuesday night.
