CANBERRA UNITED POINTS REINSTATED

Following a successful appeal held on Thursday 23rd March, Canberra United have had the three points won in the 2-1 win over Sydney FC at McKellar Park on Saturday 25th February reinstated.

The appeal process found that:

  • The Club did not breach cl 7.4(d) of the A-League Women Competition Regulations (the Regulations).
  • The Club did breach cl 7.2(e) of the Regulations.
  • Whilst the Club did breach cl 7.2(e), the APL did not have the authority/power to issue the sanction that it did.

The findings determined that their ruling would:

  • Overturn the finding of breach of cl 7.4(d) and overturn the sanction handed down by APL for breach of cl 7.2(e).

As a consequence, Canberra United move into fifth on the league table with 25 points two points behind Melbourne Victory in fourth.
