PREVIEW: CANBERRA TRAVEL TO WESTERN FOR BIG GREEN

The hunt for finals football is heating up for Canberra United with five matches remaining in the regular season, and a trip to the West of Melbourne to face fellow finals rivals Western United in a huge Friday night clash.

Canberra come into the clash off the back of a two-goal loss to Melbourne Victory and find themselves still sitting outside the top six by the virtue of goal difference alone.

Western sit two points ahead of Canberra on the ladder, currently in fourth place. Their most recent match saw them travel to Perth for a three-goal loss to the Glory.

The last meeting between these two sides was back in Round 11, with Canberra holding on for a 2-1 win, in front of a packed McKellar Park, coming back from a goal down.

Western’s form has been patchy of late, having not won since Round 15 against Sydney FC, with one goal scored in their last three matches.

Previous to the loss away to Melbourne Victory, Canberra had been unbeaten in their last six matches, and will be keen for a return to the form that saw them difficult to play against.

A win for Canberra would catapult them up the ladder and into fourth place, depending on other results, with four matches remaining in the regular season.
