Canberra United are delighted to announce the signing of two local youngsters Maia Cameron and Sofia Christopherson to add to the squad for the 2023/2024 Liberty A-League season.
Christopherson, an aggressive, speedy forward, is no stranger to the club having been a part of the team that so narrowly missed out on making the top four last season, making her debut in the opening day 2-2 draw with Perth Glory as a 79th minute substitute for Vesna Milivojevic.
The Canberra United Academy graduate went on to make eight appearances in her maiden season at this level. Previously, the forward had made 64 appearances for the Academy in the National Premier League, scoring 25 goals.
Cameron meanwhile is in line to make her senior tram debut, having put pen to paper on a deal to play for her hometown club.
Blessed with plenty of energy, and a terrific eye for a pass, Cameron was standout in the Academy outfit that competed in the NPL during the 2023 local season, taking hr Academy appearance record to 35 games in the process.
Both players have been training with the squad since the commencement of the initial pre-season training phase and are available for selection for the opening round of the Liberty A-League, the trip to South Australia and a date with the Lady Reds at Coopers Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
