Canberra United’s Foxtel Youth League squad will return on Saturday against  conference leaders Western Sydney Wanderers at Valentine Sports Park, kicking offt 4:30pm.

The team has had more than two weeks off with a bye plus a postponement of the scheduled clash with Sydney FC last weekend due to poor weather.

These two last met way back in November in round two at Deakin Stadium.

In a game where chances were you and far between for both sides, United kept pace with the defending champions for much of the contest only to finish empty-handed as the Wanderers were awarded a late, late penalty from which they stole a win.

Speaking last week about the season so far, head coach Dean Ugrinic said he was pleased so far with the improvement he had seen from his squad in a development competition.

“I have definitely seen a vast improvement over course of the journey so far,” he said.

“The squad is definitely up to the level required and have been very competitive so far, which is really pleasing to see.”
