Young midfielder Grace Maher will depart Canberra United and head elsewhere for Season 11 of the Westfield W-League.

Having spent four seasons with the club in which she moved up the ranks, the youngster announced her departure with an Instagram post of Canberra United memories, thanking the club, fans and teammates for her time at the club.

“Thank you to the club, the fans and my teammates for the last four seasons,” she wrote.

“I’ve been lucky enough to live my childhood dream and hope to continue doing so.”

“For now it is time to see where else football can take me.”

Canberra United Head Coach Heather Garriock, who worked with Maher both in Green and in the Young Matildas set-up wished her the best of luck moving forward, and thanked Maher for their time together.

“Grace is a talented future and mature beyond her years, with a very bright future ahead,” Garriock said.

“I am saddened by her departure and that we were unable to come to terms suitable for both Grace and for Canberra United.”

“She will be missed by the players, all of us at the club and the fans as well but everyone wishes her all the best moving forward with her career.”
