Canberra United are delighted to announce that Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec and legendary striker Michelle Heyman have both signed on with the club ahead of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Women’s season.
Jagarinec returns to the dugout for his second season as Head Coach of United, having made the step up from Assistant Coach at the beginning of last season, whilst Matildas star Heyman is back to lead the line.
“I am incredibly excited to be back at the helm for my second season as Head Coach of Canberra United,” Jagarinec said of his appointment as Head Coach.
“Last season was an unbelievable experience for me, making the step up into the role having been at the club for some time.”
In his debut season in the top job, Jagarinec was named Coach of the Month an incredible three times, taking the side to finals football for the first time in four years.
“It was an honour to lead this club back to finals football, where we belong,” Jagarinec commented. “While we couldn’t get the result we wanted that night, it was still an incredible achievement from the playing group and staff to be there.”
Australian footballing legend Michelle Heyman returns to the squad for the upcoming Ninja A-League campaign, after a record breaking season in Green.
“I couldn’t be happier to back in Green for the new season,” Heyman said about her return to the green shirt.
“This club means everything to me. Canberra is my home, and I love pulling on the jersey each and every week in front of the best fans in the country.”
In the 2024/25 season, Heyman struck her 100th goal for the club and was the first person to play 200 games in the A-League Women’s competition. The striker and captain was a key figure as the side played finals football, with Heyman scoring in the Elimination Final loss to Central Coast Mariners.
“I’ve had some of the most memorable moments of my career at this club, and I can’t wait to get started and create more special moments,” Heyman revealed.
“While we were devastated to not go further in the finals, making that far was an incredible achievement from the group. We want to go further this year and bring some silverware back to Canberra for our fans.”
