Canberra United is delighted to announce that Jessie Rasschaert has re-signed with the club for the 2020/21 Westfield W-League season.
Rasschaert signed her first professional contract with Canberra United last season, playing nine games in her debut season. The 33-year-old defender, who was the 2019 Capital Football NPLW Player of the Year, returned to Belconnen United this winter season, scoring four goals in 10 games.
Rasschaert said she was excited to sign with the club for her second season in the Westfield W-League.
“I’m stoked to be back playing for Canberra again this season,” Rasschaert said. “It is good to know that last year wasn’t a fluke and that even in my old age I can still keep up with the young ones.
“What I am most looking forward to is walking out with the team in front of a home crowd. It was such a memorable experience last year and it is a humbling feeling to be able to put on the green jersey again in front of my hometown and all my friends and family.
“I’m excited to start training with the new squad and get to know the girls.”
Head coach Vicki Linton said she was delighted that Rasschaert was back with Canberra United.
“Jessie earned a place in the squad last season through strong performances in the NPLW and I am glad to be adding her to the squad for this season,” Linton said.
“She now has Westfield W-League experience under her belt and we will be looking for her to build from that and add her qualities to our backline and the team, on and off the field.”
