Canberra United welcome back goalkeeper Coco Majstorovic for a second season in green with news that the goalkeeper has agreed a new deal that will keep her in the National Capital for the 2024/25 season.
The amiable goalkeeper made her Canberra United bow in the 5-1 drubbing of Brisbane Roar at McKellar Park in December 2023, replacing incumbent number one Chloe Lincoln with seven minutes of the contest remaining.
Majstorovic made her first start for the club the following week, thrust into the red-hot atmosphere of a clash against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park, and subsequently ended the season with seven appearances to her name.
“Coco showed last season what she has to offer as a goalkeeper at the top level by successfully replacing Chloe Lincoln when required throughout the A-League campaign,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec commented.
“Coco takes on board the coaching advice, is always ready and willing to go when needed and possesses all the attributes that a goalkeeper needs to succeed in the A-League.”
Majstorovic had one A-League appearance to her name for Melbourne City, having come on for the final six minutes in a 4-0 home win over Wellington Phoenix at AAMI Park in January 2022, replacing legendary number one Melissa Barbieri before her arrival in Canberra.
“I’m excited to be returning to Canberra again, to see where we can go together as a new team,” Majstorovic said.
“We have the power to bring our individual skills and strengths into unison to have a successful season. I can’t wait to be involved in guiding our younger players, to create a collaborative team.
As a goalkeeper, I understand the importance of fluid communication, and I’ll be bringing that to all aspects of the game, both on and off the field.
“We have a new Head Coach this season which means new systems coming into place. I’m looking forward to working with Ant again as things will be run a bit differently but in a positive way so I’m very excited! Shout out to the best fans and supporters a team could ask for, we can’t wait for the season and to see you at the games!”
