Canberra United are pleased to announce the signing of American midfielder Josie Aulicino for the forthcoming 2025/26 Ninja A-League season.
A strong running central lynchpin, with a creative eye, and a superb range of passing, Aulicino heads to the National Capital after a series of excellent performances at club level in Victoria.
The midfield schemer will be familiar to watchers of the Victorian National Premier League from her spell with Box Hill United where she weaved her magic in the middle of the park.
“We are excited to be able to welcome Josie to Canberra United for the upcoming Ninja A-League season.” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec said of the addition of the midfielder.
“Josie is a hard-running midfield player with a creative streak, an eye for a killer pass and a dynamic style of play. Her ability to pick out support runners and create openings in front of goal will be crucial for us in the league this year.
“I am convinced her energetic style of play, and willingness to take risks in the final third to provide chances for others will make her a favourite with the McKellar Park faithful.”
Josie attended South Lyon East High School in her hometown of Northville Michigan while playing for ECNL club team Michigan Hawks. Upon graduation from high school, the American attended Northwestern University, a Division I university playing in the Big Ten conference.
In her five seasons with Northwestern, Aulicino started all 87 matches of her University career and contributed 25 goals and 31 assists, the latter being a record number for the College program.
“It’s a great honour to be selected to play for Canberra United in the Ninja A-League and I thank Antoni (Jagarinec) and the club staff for having the faith in me to give me this opportunity,” Aulicino commented.
“I know all about the club having been based in Melbourne whilst playing for Box Hill and am delighted that I will have the chance to play at McKellar Park in front of the United supporters.”
