NATHAN PENS NEW UNITED AGREEMENT

New Zealand international forward Ruby Nathan has agreed to sign a new deal with Canberra United that will see her return to McKellar Park for the 2024/25 A-League season.

Nathan was introduced to the Canberra support in Round 1 last season, as a substitute in the epic 4-4 draw with Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium, making her home bow a couple of rounds later when Perth Glory were the visitors to the national Capital in another goal-laden fixture.

“I worked with Ruby closely during the 2023/24 A-League season and know the quality that she can bring to the team in terms of her attacking output, and her defensive efforts,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarienc commented.

“Ruby is a diligent professional, a hard-worker, and is eminently coachable. She always gives her best when taking the field and can play in a variety of positions across the frontline, exactly what we are looking for in terms of our fluid attacking approach.”

As a promising young player across the Tasman Sea, Nathan’s performances for New Zealand in youth internationals earned her a call up to the New Zealand national team in 2023 for the friendly matches against Colombia, the striker making her senior international debut in the second of those games, coming on as a second-half substitute.

“I was first attracted to the club after meeting the coaching staff and talking through the style of play and the set up at Canberra United,” Nathan said. “I am delighted to be re-signing for the club under Antoni (Jagarinec) and I am looking forward to getting back out there in the green shirt.

“I enjoyed my first season at the club and now I will be aiming to push on and take my game to the next level. The fans got right behind me every time I was on the field last season, and I am keen to be part of this great club once again.”

Nathan has committed to Canberra United for the 2024/25 season, and you can too! Packages for season memberships are available now on our club website at www.canberraunited.com.au.
