Canberra United will make their return to finals, for the first time since 2021, taking on the Central Coast Mariners in a must win Elimination Final clash at Industree Group Stadium.
United are in good form at the moment, with three wins in a row while Mariners have two wins and a loss in their last three.
It will be the third time the two sides have met this season, with the Mariners having won in Round Five and a draw in Round 15.
While this fixture is historically a tricky one for United, with the only away win coming back in 2008 thanks to goals from Ellie Brush, Caitlin Munoz and Hayley Crawford, United will be buoyed by their recent form, and knowing that anything can happen in finals football.
In fact, in the last 270 minutes of football. United have only conceded twice whilst the last six goals have been scored by six different players.
It has been a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for United this season. Having finished the 2023/24 season in 11th place and with 24 points, the side finished this season fifth on the loader with 33 points.
While the team has scored 11 goals less than last season, the improvement in defence has been evident having conceded 16 fewer goals.
A massive 90 minutes against the Mariners, or more if extra time and penalties are needed, is the first hurdle that faces Jagarinec and the players as the club seeks the ultimate glory.
