Five days after an incredible comeback win away to Melbourne Victory, Canberra United are back in action with a midweek clash against Sydney FC at McKellar Park, in the rescheduled Round Five of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Women’s Season.
United head into the match full of confidence, with two wins a row against Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory. The side has looked vastly improved from the opening rounds, with the inclusion of New Zealand International Liz Anton providing a much-needed boost.
In the last two matches, United has looked dominant at both ends of the pitch, scoring six goals and only conceding one.
Ahead of two games in four days, keeping up the recent form will be crucial as two of the competition’s top sides visit McKellar Park.
Wednesday’s opponent, Sydney FC, currently sit in third place on the ladder despite being undefeated with two wins and three draws. Despite a rather uneventful match, the side was able to welcome back Hana Lowry, with midfielder making her return to play from an ACL injury in November of last year.

While goals have been hard to come by for the Harbour City team, with only five scored in five games, their defence has been immense with two conceded in their Round One match, leading to a run of four straight clean sheets.
