Canberra United are on the road for Round 16 of the 2025/26 Ninja A-League Women’s season, taking on rivals Sydney FC on Sunday afternoon at Leichhardt Oval.
United returned to the winner’s circle after a two-goal win over Melbourne Victory last weekend, beating the Victorian side twice in the same season for the first time since the 2016/17 season.
This will be the second time this season that United meet Sydney, with the previous result a dominant 2-0 win over the Sky Blues the previous result back in Round Five.
It has been a season of vastly different fortunes for both sides. United are flying at the moment, currently sitting in fourth place on the ladder while Sydney are down the bottom in twelfth place.
To make matters worse for the Sky Blues, the side recently farewelled long serving coach Ante Juric, with the side having not won since Round Four.
The home side already have one game under their belt with interim head coach James Slaveski, a midweek loss at home to Brisbane Roar on Wednesday night.
With time running out before the regular season wraps up, every point is crucial as United looking to cement their spot in the finals and challenge for the League Premier’s title.
