Canberra United is pleased to confirm the return of local product, and fan favourite, Hayley Taylor-Young to the playing ranks.
It is a welcome return to playing top-flight football for Taylor-Young, having missed all of last season with an ankle injury, having previously made all of her forty-four A-League appearances for United.
“I am really pleased to be back at Canberra United and can’t wait to get back into it,” Taylor-Young commented.
“I feel at home with Canberra United. It’s my hometown team and the fans are the best in the country. Playing in front of them every week is a real honour, and I love the noise and passion that they bring.
“It was disappointing to miss out last year due to injury, but I’m raring to go again this year and can’t wait to be back out on the field at McKellar Park.”
A versatile player, Taylor-Young made her name initially in the Canberra United Academy ranks where, as an out-and-out forward she struck an impressive 39 goals in 46 matches in the National Premier League (NPL).
In recent seasons, she has been showing her abilities as an attacking full-back, earning rave reviews for her contributions at both ends of the park, her acceleration going in both directions a real asset to the team.
“Hayley is an incredible footballer, and we’re absolutely delighted she is back playing for the club,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec commented.
“She has tremendous pace and can run all day. We all know how strong she is in defence, but she can also be just as effective up the top of the pitch in attack. Her versatility is a massive bonus for us.”
