Canberra United captain, Ellie Brush, would like to thank the Canberra community for all your support during the inaugural season of the Westfield W-League.
The support received by the club over the past twelve weeks has been overwhelming and much appreciated by the playing squad, coaching staff and administration.
No matter the distance, Canberra United had strong support from loyal fans both at McKellar Park and away which included over 100 fans in Brisbane for the Westfield W-League Grand Final at Ballymore and in Newcastle the week before for the semi final.
“We-ve been very fortunate to have an extremely supportive Canberra community,” Brush said after the Grand Final.
“We-re really happy to be able to get [to the Grand Final] for [our supporters].”
“I can assure [our supporters] that we gave everything [in the grand final] and have nothing left in the tank.”
The players were greeted with over 40 messages of support plastering their Ballymore change room walls ahead of the decider against the Queensland Roar.
“It was an awesome feeling to see those messages of support,” Brush said.
“To see all those messages got us a bit pumped up and a couple of messages even brought tears to a few girls.”
“Just want to thank the Canberra community for all their support this year.”
