Following on from a midweek trip to Sydney, which was abandoned in the 54th minute, Canberra United return to McKellar Park for Round 12 and a must win clash against the Western Sydney Wanderers.
United have been on a good run of results and are unbeaten in three matches, before the midweek abandoned match with Sydney FC, and will be looking to keep up the form that has the side on the cusp of a spot in the top six.
This weekend they come up against a Wanderers side that finds themselves at the bottom of the ladder amidst what can only be described as a difficult season. Multiple injuries have disrupted team selection for the red and black, with key players Holly Caspers and Maddy McComasky having made minimal appearances.
They have also gone through a mid-season coaching change as Geoff Abraham steps in for Robbie Hooker, on an interim basis.
Youngster Sienna Saveska has been a bright spark for the Wanderers, with five goals to her name so far this season, making her the top scorer for the side.
In last season’s fixture, United struggled against the Wanderers. A 1-1 draw, followed by a midweek 4-1 loss days later, were the result in the 23/24 season.
All-time however, United have got maximum points on nine occasions in this fixture with six draws to go with.
