Canberra United are delighted to welcome back defender, and fan favourite, Sasha Grove to the club for the upcoming 2025/26 Ninja A-League season.
Grove made her Canberra United debut on 3 January 2021, in Season 13, the Round 2 victory over Melbourne City in front of 1,398 at Viking Park in Canberra, United winning courtesy of a stoppage time goal from Michelle Heyman.
She departed the club at the beginning of the 2024/25 season for Western United where she played twenty-four times last campaign, helping her team qualifying for the end of season finals.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Sasha back to the club for the new A-League season,” Head Coach Antoni Jagarinec commented.
“Obviously, we know all about the qualities that Sasha has from her previous spell with United and are delighted that she has agreed to return to the place where she began her professional career.
“Sasha knows all about the club, its history, and its expectations, and will be able to hit the ground running.”
Grove played four seasons at United in her first spell, the Woden Valley junior having moved to the National Capital from Christchurch in New Zealand when she was an infant.
On the international stage, Grove helped the Young Matildas to a bronze medal at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in early 2024.
“I am thrilled to be able to return to Canberra United for the new Ninja A-League season,” Grove said of her signing. “This club has always been a huge part of my life and holds a special place in my heart.
“Ant has done so much for the Canberra football community, so when the opportunity arose to come back home it was a no-brainer.
“I am beyond excited to be back in green and can’t wait to be back at McKellar Park and hear our supporters cheering us on at every game.”
